The app allows Swiss and Liechtenstein veterinarians to document their examination results in a homogenous and well-structured manner. Findings and diagnoses can be entered, but also infor-mation about surroundings, e.g. animal environment, and herd management. The veterinarians decide case-related about the extent of the documentation. Moreover, the app can be used to record results of post-mortem examinations or lab analyses. As soon as an examination recording has been completed, a report is automatically generated that can be sent to the farmer and any other recipient by email. In this way, the exchange of information with farmers is supported and the cooperation with laboratories is made more efficient.
All data recorded using the app is stored in a database and analyzed continuously in order to notice any local or temporal accumulation of certain findings or diagnoses as early as possible. This proce-dure is expected to improve early detection of health threats, and hence enables the initiation of adequate control measures to stop spreading at an earlier stage. Like this, animal health and wel-fare will be increased nationwide.
